Hey guys,

I was wondering why my ASUS GT630-2GD3 started making a vibrating noise 5-6 days ago. I tried various fixes (nope, I'm not under warranty 🙁):
1) Reseat graphics card - did not work
2) Reseat fan - did not work
3) Reseat fan shroud - did not work
4) Cleaning the graphics card fan and heatsink thoroughly with compressed air - did not work

I haven't found any reason to reapply thermal paste, since my temperatures are fine.
I also haven't found any reasons to disassemble my graphics card, since the only problem is the fan, not temperatures.
Temperatures are pretty OK, 38c when idle and 80-83 while under load.
CPU is not a problem, I have checked, the vibration is coming from the GPU.
Before I continue, here are my PC specs:
Case: IG-Max 2358 Red
Power Supply: IG-Max Switching Power Supply
Processor: Intel Core i3-3210
Graphics Card: ASUS GT630-2GD3
Hard Disk: Western Digital Blue 500GB
Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0
Wireless Card: TP-Link TL-WN781ND (2 PCI-E slots below graphics card)
Optical Drive: Samsung (The generic one, can't remember the model number)
RAM: Elpida 4GB RAM

Although the wireless card is 2 slots under the graphics card, it's very thin and very short, so it makes no contact whatsoever and it's not in the path of the airflow of the graphics card fan.
So, today, I've bought some sewing machine oil, hoping to re-lubricate my fan tomorrow. I've just removed the ASUS sticker... I was pretty disappointed. The middle is a plastic part, not a rubber plug, so I guess I'll have to penetrate it with a hot needle.

My computer is pretty much unusable until I fix the noise. I am afraid to boot it up because it is a deep grinding sound, and I am afraid I could cause irreparable damage.

Also, I've noticed that the fan moves back and forth on the shaft. Should it be doing that, or is that the cause of the vibrations? If it is the cause of the vibrations, what do you guys suggest to do so I could fix it?
I am not financially able to buy a new graphics card cooler, so I'm looking for DIY fixes.
Thank everyone who replies to this topic so much. :)

Aw crap.
That's a bummer...
The graphics card is only 3 years old, and my dad's still got a graphics card running for 8 years 🙁
Will replacing the oil help it? Even a little bit?
There is DEFINITELY no DIY fix?
🙁

EDIT: Fixed it! Had to lubricate the fan and also had to press it down a little bit. It was maybe kinda deattached from the shaft. Thanks tea urchin for your help anyways, I'm going to select your answer as the best answer! Solved.
