I built up a pc from the parts listed below. The system worked fine running on integrated graphics before installing the Asus GTX 1660S. Once the Asus GTX 1660S card was installed the system the system randomly crashes. Sometimes it crashes as soon as Windows loads other times it may run for 10 minutes before it crashes. There are
no error messages. Mouse & keyboard lockup prior to crash.

Drivers have been installed twice from Nvidia’s site for the Asus GTX 1660S. Asus does not list any driver for the “TUF-GTX1660S-O6G-GAMING” on their site. I have removed some components from the pc (fax card, DVD drive…) but nothing has helped. Hardware Monitor does not show any over heating.

The system will run in Safe Mode w/o crashing.

Do I have a bad graphics card?
If not what else should I check?

Kingston does not currently list such a combination as being available for sale. Perhaps you could provide more details such as part number, link to it, link to where you bought it.

I am currently running:
BIOS Version 2501 - 2015/07/31

Planning to update to:
BIOS Version 2801 - 2015/11/13

Not sure about this update since it is still Beta
BIOS Version 3503 (Beta Version) - 2018/04/26 (Meltdown and Spectre protection? Some do not recommend)

I have made several changes to my pc per suggestions from this site and others. The system is currently crashing from the instant Win10 loads up to 10 minutes after loading with the Asus GTX-1660S in the system. With the card removed the pc will run for hours without errors.

With the card is installed I see the following:
  • PC will crash at any time up to 10 minutes after loading.
  • May crash when loading a browser
  • May crash when loading a Program
  • May crash when nothing is being done

When the system crashes the following happens:
  • The mouse and keyboard lose control just prior to crash.
  • Screen will remain up, but nothing can be done, pc must be manually shut down.
  • Other times it goes to a blank screen (not blue screen).
  • Looks like both graphics card and CPU fans go to high speed.
  • PC must be manually shut down

I removed the following components:
  • Second HHD
  • Optical drive
  • Fax card
  • Removed front panel USB 2 and SATA card reader connections

These suggestions came from this site and others.
  • BIOS Update: Version 2801 - 2015/11/13 from 2501 - 2015/07/31.
  • Loaded GPUTweakII_Version1971 (1) Silent mode' enabled within the GPU tweak utility
  • NVIDIA Driver Downloads
  • Option 1: Manually find drivers for my NVIDIA products.
  • Product Type: GeForce •
  • Product Series: GeForce 16 Series •
  • Product: GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER •
  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit •
  • Download Type: Game Ready Driver (GRD) •
  • language: English (US) •

  • GEFORCE GAME READY DRIVER
  • Version: 445.87 WHQL
  • Release Date: 2020.4.15
  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Language: English (US)
  • File Size: 535.7 MB
  • Please make sure that there is no overclocking set to your system
  • No overclocking on CPU or GPU
  • Test your graphics card with the 3rd party graphics card benchmark tools below:
  • FurMark http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/
  • Heaven UNIGINE, https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven\
  • With graphics card installed the system crashed so quickly I could not get the two benchmark tools to run.

Seems like I have done a lot with no success. I suspect the graphics card could be bad?
