Hey Guys. Am planning to upgrade my GPU. I am currently running Asus GTX 650 1GB on single monitor at 1440x900. I am not planning to upgrade the monitor.

Which of the above Graphics card is best for a 1440x900 resolution?

And also I won't be changing my GPU for the next 2 years. Will I be able to run next gen games maxed out?

I prefer only nVidia guys.

Thanks :)

In that case go with the 770 but it's only going to be a marginal upgrade. You'd be better off waiting for the 970 price to drop or seeing where the 960's end up priced at assuming they come out any time soon.

neither, you can find an r9 290 with 4gb for around the same price as the gtx 770 2gb.

Here's my experience with 1080p.

Latest games ask for more than 2GB Vram for ultra texture filters. So I wouldn't even consider buying anything with less than 3gb. But the 760 4gb won't have enough power to handle everything on ultra anyway. So I'd get the 770 and ajust the game to use no more than 2gb vram.

Nevertheless, get the 770.

Is the 970 completely out of your budget? I'd seriously consider getting one. It's not pricey and performs as well as a 780ti, which is quite more expensive.

I read somewhere that 770 would be overkill on a 1440x900 monitor :\
970, I don't think anytime soon.

Well, I've been using a Asus 770 directcu II for more than a year already, and it's been quite good so far on my 1080p monitor. There will be games you will need to lower down a bit some of the graphics, but still it's a great card. I moved to another country not long ago, and rebuilt almost everything. I kept only vga, sound card, ssd and hd. I regret not have spent a bit more to get the 970 and sell the 770 later. I still can upgrade it, of course, but since there's a stupid sticker from the store that built it for me on the back for warranty purposes, I can't open it without taking it to the store for the time being. So keep that in mind. Go for the 970, it's 23% faster.

970 is pretty costly in India right now. If I were to go for 770, should I buy the 2GB or 4GB?

The 970 price isn't dropping anytime soon. Those things are selling without issue (best value currently). They'll drop when their replacement is released.

As for the OP, neither of those cards will "future proof" you to max games for the next 2 years. That's actually very naïvely optimistic of you. Even if you purchased a GTX 980, there would be no guarantee of maxing a game out in 2016 or 2017. This industry evolved at a rapid rate. Just look at how VRAM-intensive it has gotten. Not to mention, 4K will be mainstream for PC gaming by then (considering how cheap it already is).

Get a 770 4gb. If you upgrade the monitor later for one with better res. the extra 2gb will make a difference in some games.

I'll get a 770 2GB rather as I won't be changing my monitor res anytime soon. Thank you :)
