I have a brand new 600W psu, so that isn't the issue. I have updated my bio's, and everything runs smoothly with my old 550ti. However, when I insert the 960, it freezes at the boot screen, and the card completely powers down, the fans do not turn. The card gives a white light next to the six pin connector to show its installed correctly and is getting enough power. The bios only gives one beep on boot up. I'm guessing this card is DOA since I have tasked all possible causes and sent for another card. What do you guys think?

Yeah that sounds like the unfortunate DOA. I would contact ASUS immediately and have them troubleshoot it and then they should tell you it is DOA and you can send it back.

If the 550Ti works fine then the 960 should to. So that lead's me to believe it is definitely DOA. Contact ASUS and let us know what they say. In the meantime good luck.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply! I find this forum very helpful. I contacted Asus and they seemed to think it was DOA also, as my other card worked fine in the board. I returned it, Amazon should have another one here Friday. If I get another DOA I'll just try a different manufacturer.

Good to hear. Now just the waiting game. If you do happen to get a 2nd DOA, which is unlikely but you never know, I would personally go with EVGA or PNY. I am yet to be let down by them. Although ASUS is usually fine so shouldn't be much to worry about.

Good luck!

Thank you! I've never had an Asus gpu, I usually go pny or sapphire. PNY makes great cards, that's the brand of my 550ti.

My old 550Ti was PNY as well!!! Lol, it kicked ass man. PNY isn't that popular but I love them to death! But no problem!
