Hello,
I updated my BIOS to the newest version (2002) and now I lost the ability to change my core ratio on my non-k i7 6700. I understand ASUS disabled this due to the loss of hyperthreading? I use my PC for gaming so I'd rather have more ghz.
I tried to downgrade my BIOS using AFUDOS on a DOS-USB however it just hung there after AFUDOS /i0903.cap. Is the issue with my BIOS file being .cap and not .rom? Does anyone know of a useful tutorial to downgrading ASUS H170 BIOS?
UPDATE:
I used the newest AFUDOS Apti 5 with the command "AFUDOS.exe 0903.cap /p /b /n" and i got an error "4 - Error Rom file RomID is not compatible with existing BIOS RomID". I'm using a previous ASUS BIOS, can anyone shed some light?
Update: I was using the wrong BIOS file. Got the correct one and used AFUDOS to flash. It got 1/4 through and said cannot write anymore due to restricitons. Mobo is now bricked. GG.
WARNING: ASUS H170 cannot be downgraded. Don't upgrade BIOS unless you're having performance issues.
Regards,
Ron
