Asus H81-A Intel USB 3.0 driver problem

All USB ports work until I install the Intel 3.0 driver that came with the motherboard,
The same thing with the only driver from the Asus sight.

All USBs stop working on reboot after the install.

I have no way of telling if the USB 3 port is actually working @ USB3 speed. It does run a keyboard before the Intel USB3 driver is installed, and they all stop working.

Still running windows update though.

Win7 Home Pro service pack 1

Yes it is a new build.
It is an H81M-A

Here is more info, but i doubt it will help.

GSkill 1600 Ram Cas9
i3 4150 3.5
On-board video
FSP 300Watt PS (a few years old, but starts computer from sleep)

If I uninstall the 3.0 driver all USB ports work, but the USB3 hub goes away in device manager.

Same thing if I leave the driver installed, and disable, the USB3 controller, in the BIOS (XCHI mode)

Tried drivers for 3rd and 4th CPUs

15 BIOS updates, and I'm several behind. 15 updates? really? edit probably closer to 10

This easy BIOS update sucks, I can't figure it out.
Give me a good old DOS BIOS update.
I'll get it eventually, I'm sure.

Can someone give me a hint?
Do I do it from Windows.
Why did the installer ask for a intel managment program to be installed?

I'm not finding a newer version of the USB 3.0 Intel drivers either. You may want to check your chipset drivers. If your chipset drivers were installed using the native windows drivers rather than the H81M-A specific ASUS drivers it might be a good idea to install the one listed on the site for that board. It could also be that another driver is conflicting or that an older USB driver is being referenced even though you have the newer driver installed. That happens a lot. Try going into device manager and at the top under View select show hidden devices.

Go to USB controllers and open the category to see if there are any grayed out devices listed. If there are, right click on them and select Uninstall and then in the next window check the box next to Uninstall drivers. For your existing USB controllers double click your Intel version and go into the properties and check the listed driver version to make sure it's using the correct version. You might have to uninstall all USB drivers and reinstall. Or possibly just use the native drivers for windows since you said they were working that way.

If ASUS says to RMA the board, which they almost always try to avoid because it usually costs them money, it must be that they are aware of an onboard USB controller issue on that model series. I'd recommend doing as they say because they would, in most cases, be far more familiar with recurring issues pertaining to specific hardware than any of us are. They deal with it every day. It does suck, but it's better than having a board that doesn't do exactly what you paid for it to do.
