Asus H81I-Plus with Core i5-4690 no POST

I'm doing a system build with an Asus H81I-Plus and a Core i5-4690. When I power everything up, the CPU fan spins, but nothing else happens. Since I had a second identical motherboard lying around, I rebuilt the system with that and had the same result.

Some quick research told me that these motherboards may need BIOS updates before they can work with a 4690. Obviously, without anything working, I can't go into the BIOS to check the version, but I did find what appears to be a factory BIOS version on the edge of the motherboards.

The CPU support list (http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H81IPLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/) says that the minimum BIOS version to support this chip is 0803. One of the motherboards has "0706" on the sticker, so that's understandable, but the other one says "2001", so if I'm assuming correctly that that's the BIOS version, this CPU should work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

The answer turned out to be that the compatibility list was wrong, and that BIOS 2001 didn't actually support that CPU. I put an older CPU in, flashed the latest BIOS, and then the 4690 worked fine.

I haven't got an older cpu to update the bios, and the computer shops around here are as useful as a moon landing. Just bought an Asus z97-A, fingers crossed the bios is up to date.
