Hi,

Specs indicate Intel® Socket 1150 for 4th Generation Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors.

But PCPartPicker says "Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor and Asus H81M-D PLUS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard are not compatible" and userbenchmark says "superseded by i5-2550" which doesn't seem much better (if at all for OC).

Anyone know of any reason why these won't work together? I have a G3258 already which is great for gaming with a GTX-750TI (World of Tanks say) but for business presentation work I could maybe use something like a 2500K OC'ed (@ c€50-100 used)? Don't see much incremental bang/buck benefit for MS Office say with i5 3xxxK/4xxxK certainly not i7.

Thanks for any pointers/help.

Solution
PCPartPicker is right in this case as the i5-2500k is a lga 1155 CPU whilst the h81M-D motherboard is lga1150, which means that the two are not compatible, thus you have to get one of the i5 4xxx cpus if you want to keep using that motherboard
