ASUS H81M-Plus with an i3 4170 - BIOS update?

Partpicker suggests "Some Intel H81 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs."

Will this be the case with this mobo? If so, how will I know?

go to Asus website and check compatible CPUs and/or which BIOS versions support which CPUs. My guess is you won't have any trouble.

Thanks for that. Had a look at the Asus site, guess I won't be 100% sure until I build the system and check the BIOS version.

Core i3-4170 since BIOS 2106

A new board should come with the most recent BIOS, so the i3-4170 will work out of the box. In the off-chance you get one with an old BIOS you can download the BIOS update to a USB stick from here:
