does asus aura sync software work with aftermarket rgb ram like geil? cause it doesn't pick up the ram in the asus software. my board is a asus maximus 8 hero the only thing the asus software picks up is the rog logo on the motherboard.
I'm guessing the ram is to new for my motherboard. or my motherboard is not compatible with the ram somehow. other than the software issue, the ram works great, I just cant control the rgb lighting effects.
Possible support has yet to be added for that ram. You should contact Asus support and see if they have a fix or known if/when one will be available(likely a bios update).

I did contact asus, and they are putting in a request for a patch etc. but they also don't know why the asus aura software is not picking up the ram.

When RGB ram first started to appear many boards required bios updates to be able to use it. My guess would be that's whats happening here.
I almost sent the ram back, but since it works well and the default rainbow rgb light effects look cool I'm probably going to keep the ram. xmp also works well. no issues.
