Sorry if this is a stupid question, just want to get it right, i know usually it should be compatible, but asus stats that its motherboards are the ones that are compatible.

This is the item in question: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Hyper-Expansion-Express-HYPERKITEXPANSION/dp/B00ZONEZMM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1448326500&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+hyper+m.2+x4

And this is the motherboard I have: http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-DDR3-Motherboards-Z97-EXTREME4/dp/B00K6JKTDI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1448326672&sr=1-1&keywords=asrock+z97+extreme4

Just wondering, because this kit is 12$ less than the one asrock sells. Thanks!

It should work, I don't see why not. Its hardware not quite software problem. However from what I see, the M.2 slot is only x1 or PCIe 3.0x1 so using a M.2 SAS HD kit is useless, you need a x4 slot to get a better performance.
