ASUS Laptop Keeps Crashing

Hello,
I am new to Tomsguide and I'd like to have some help with my ASUS laptop.
After 30 or, 6 hours my laptop freezes randomly. I'm really tired of this problem and it is a brand new laptop, about 5 months old, and I really like using it. I use it for school too, and for my hobby as a Disk Jockey.

what make and model of laptop, and has it been doing it since the start ? or only happens under certain games, applications ?

The model is a X540LA laptop. It crashes when I am on the internet and normally, so I cannot clearly give a description of when it actually crashes.

so it crashes when your browsing.. ok , watching a video, reading Facebook ?doing anything special like playing an online game ?
you could try to run a memory test, a flaky ram could cause intermittent "freeze" of a computer forcing to power down and restart

What do I need to choose?
Image for creating bootable CD (ISO format) or Image for creating bootable USB Drive?

Depends what you have. If you dont have a blank cd get the usb flash option. What does the BSOD say?

If memtest brings up any errors, take it back to the shop

I do not get a BSOD. It freezes randomly. Do I need a USB drive for this software, if so, why?

Thats what an ISO is, it's a bootable image. Well you need a blank dvd or a flash drive

After 5 hours of my laptop constantly freezing, me raging, begging and almost ripping the laptop apart, I stumbled across a BSOD. Here's the ID: Machine Check Exception. I am currently trying to download clouds, so I can backup all my files and folders so I can format my laptop.

About 1 year after, I resetted my whole laptop and got a whole new hard drive, clean windows install and my laptop was cleaned. Now, about 9 months after my laptop was cleaned this issue now starts to exist again.

Hi, i've got maybe the similar problem with my ASUS laptop, mine is a X540L laptop, and it's brandnew laptop, and whenever i turn it on, only about 1 minute or less and it turns off again, it doesn't freeze though, it only turns off, and i must plug it to the charger so it won't do that

Your laptop might not have a battery, instead, it has to be connected to power to function. Try to ask the manufactorer if your laptop has a battery.

well, it's odd, the thing is, when i keep it plugged to the charger for a short while, after it's turned on, i remove the charger, and it works with no problem after that, it'slike, i must keep it plugged at the start, and wait for a few minutes before i unplug the charger. so i guess the laptop has a battery, but yeah you're right, i better go ask the manufactorer

I reccomend placing the laptop on a flat surface, I did that before I cleaned it and it rarely crashed. If someone is experiencing this, clean out your laptop interior. Do not place the laptop on the following surfaces: Be careful placing it on your lap. Do not place the laptop in bed. It will suck up dust and all that nasty stuff. Do not place it on any outside terrain surfaces. I recommend placing it on a table. I will not pick a solution, since this thread has not been entirely fixed and I do not know if it will occur again.
