Hi,

I bought a Asus N750JK-T4208H laptop in November 2014.

One day of last August, I faced a couple of times the following problem :
- the display of the screen was bad : curved lines and wrong colours.

But the next day the problem disappeared.

Unfortunately this week, the problem is occurring again.

When I connect the laptop to an external screen (through HDMI), the display is correct.

I got in touch with Asus support and was told that the laptop is out of guarantee (since one month !).

What could lead to the wrong display ?
Is there anything that I can do myself to fix the problem ?

Thank you in advance for any reply.

Hi,

Start by doing a clean install of the graphics card driver of your laptop. Since the problem is not happening using an external monitor chances are if these troubleshooting steps will not work it could be a problem with the display itself. 🙁

First uninstall the old NVIDIA driver from Device Manager.
- Uninstall from Programs and Features anything related to your graphics.
- Download and install the latest driver from NVIDIA.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
- Reboot your PC once the driver has been installed.
- Observe the laptop once done and see if the same problem will persist because if it does the problem would be on the display itself. What you can do is to open the laptop clean the inside of it apply a new thermal paste and make sure that the cable that connects it to the motherboard is properly seated.

Hi,

Thank you for your replies.

Yesterday I I tapped lightly on the back of the laptop screen and the display was fine again !

Of course, I am sure that it is just a temporary solution and I wonder whether I should open the laptop to try to fix the problem.
