Hello, has anyone that owns a 17" Asus Laptop (it's about 4 years old), and it will occasionally with Windows 7 get a blue screen (no error or anything) then shuts down. Then often when starting it up, I have to take the battery out, also unplug the power cord, then hold the power button down for 1 minute, then it will finally start up okay. Is this a Power Supply problem for this laptop or something else causing this? What can be causing this problem? Thank you for anyone that has ideas?

Hi,

Do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Observe the laptop in Safe Mode and see if you'll get a blue screen as well.
- If not do run a virus/malware scan.
- Use this link for tools and tutorials:

- Once done run Windows Update and install all important updates.
- If all these will not work do observe in BIOS if the same problem will persist because if it does that means it's a hardware problem but if not you just need to run a complete factory reset.

Thanks, just to let you know, the problem happens in Safe Mode also, (Blue Screen Without Error Numbers), also this Laptop, I do run the full paid version of Avast Anti-Virus/Firewall, and also run Malwarebytes (paid version, that catches quickly any potential spyware/adware quickly.

Did try recently a complete factory reset, the problem still persists after doing that too. Think it's something in the Power Supply or DC Coverter power AC/DC Adapter maybe?
