Asus M2N68-LA (Ivy) motherboard and Phenom II X4

Thanks a lot :)

How do you think whether this is a good motherboard?

My specs:

Asus M2N68-LA (Ivy)

Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane

Seagate ST380811 80GB SATA

2x2GB RAM Super Talent

ATI Radeon HD5450

DVD ROM HP

Power supply 670 W

Windows Vista x64 home basic

can I improve this hardware settings or something ?

the board is socket am2 which will not accept a phenom processor. you need am2+ or am3 boards for the phenom processors, sorry

The AM2 socket will not work with the Phenom II's HP states that mobo can only support upto the Athlon 64 x2 4800+ And Athlon 64 3800+ singlecore (Not Athlon II's)
And some AMD Sempron models. So you would need a Motherboard Upgrade.

The Celeron D isn't any better sorry.

The reason I gave that info for the cpu is that the information from Compaq/HP is 4 years old. The 5.14 bios will see the cpu and multiply properly. I was goint to try a 6000. I did not do that because I wanted to stay with the 65w cpus

I have not tried it. I think it should as long as you get a better Heatsink and fan
The motherboard you are using does not put out 12 V. I am using the Thermalink R! something like that. I have it tied to 12 v and the yellow one hooked to the motherboard for sense.
I would have tried the 6000 but I did not want to spend the extra money. This mobo funs win 8 without any problems. It has a rating of 4.9 with a video card.
I have 4 of these computers and they are good workhorses.
If you have any questions ask.

Can you point me in the direction where you updated your BIOS, I can't seem to find a link..(maybe I need more sleep). I am wanting to upgrade my processor to the 5600 as you did.

Thanks
