Good day everyone

I am trying to bring some life to an old machine with some spare parts. The mother board is an asus M3a32-MVP. When I install a gigabyte windforce r9 290 the system won't post. The card works in my other system with out issues.

I have tried to flash bios to latest revision, I have tried switching the switch from hybrid vbios to legacy, also I tried flashing to the latest legacy vbios. Nothing works so far. If I put the 290 in the second pci lane and run the 4870x2 I have in the primary lane I can get into Windows and I open gpu-z it sees the 290.

Any suggestions what I should try next? It seems from compatiblity websites that this card should work with this motherboard.

Not a problem,

Cpu: phenom 9950BE
Mobo: asus M3a32-MVP
Ram: ocz reaper 1066 8gb
Hd: Wd black 2tb
Gpu: gigabyte windforce r9 290
Chassis: coolermaster 932 haf
Psu: corsair 850 watt 80+ gold
Os: win 10 64bit
Psu is 2 days old

If anyone has this combo working, which bios rev and vbios are you using?

Using a spare card to load into Windows, just wanted to add that device manager sees the 290
