ASUS M4A785-M Rev X.0x Blue screens 64k Window 7 or 10 with 4x4 gb identical ram cards installed. Yet will startup AOK with any two Ram cards in either the first two slots r the last two slots. Memory test when all four ram sticks are installed indicates hardware problem contact manufacturer. Memory test using less than all 4 sticks completes normally. I.e. each individually and each two stick pair. using 3 sticks just won't post.

Dimm controller has failed sounds like

Was the RAM sold as a 4x4 kit? Unless it was, there's no guarantee they'll work together, even identically branded sticks. They're not necessarily even sourced from the same manufacturer if they are separate identically branded kits next to each other on a shelf.

Yes, I bought a package of four. I've also tried 2(4gb's) in the black slots and 2(1gb's) in the blue slots that config won't post.

What is curious to me is BIOS recognizes all 16GB the problem (whatever it is) is recognized by windows.

Have you made sure your using x64 not x32 windows
All OS's are of the 64k type!
Problem Solved
My issue was caused by AMBAKDVR.sys at startup. This driver is a component of AOMEI Backerupper. Disabling the startup item or deleting it will make the system unbootable.

The fix is to uninstall the Ap Backerupper. If you like the AP as I do it can be run from a thumb drive, iso, or Optical disk.
