asus m4a785-m motherboard and processor compatibility

Hi I have an asus motherboard (m4a785-m) and I am currently running an AMD Athlon II X2 250 processor on it and have been for a while. However After purchasing the new Rome 2 game and after a series of already purchasing more RAM and a new graphics card (the old one failed) I am convinced that the only way to run the games well is to purchase a new processor. After some quick research it seems that most of the models of compatible processors are discontinued for this model. So I was hoping someone could help me find a compatible processor that would help me run my games up to speed.
