ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO not posting

So i have an asus motherboard that refuses to post. The cpu is a Phenom X4 955. The fan runs and the led is on but no video. I tried all the motherboard video connectors. I tried an external gpu too. The gpu fan ran at fullspeed.

I tried all the usual stuff like: re seating all the connectors and even the cpu. I tried 2 different confirmed to be working powersupplies. Other one was a 600W coolermaster. There are no bulging or leaking capacitors.

As the board supports DDR3 ram i tried the only one that i have at hand. The one i tried is an ELPIDA 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600U-9-10-A0. This stick is confirmed to be working as it works in another system.

I tried all of the ram slots. When it was on the black one the fan had this wierd slight up and down pulse. Without the ram it beebed just as a pc without ram would.

Would this fan "pulse" be some sort of an error code? Or is the ram just incompatible?

That old of a board may require low density RAM. Usually that is double-sided RAM. Do you have a 2Rx8 to try?

Thanks for your reply. I managed to get hands on a Hynix 4GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-12-B1 but with no luck. It still refuses to post. :/

Buy a different motherboard, start using the computer. I would never use an (asus or) EVO board, based on experience. It's too much trouble.
(probably another defective board)
Buy a Gigabyte board or an Intel.
It's not worth all the frustration of dealing w/ Asus.
Just Think: you buy the other board...plug it in...and your system works.
That was a lot less trouble, believe me.

Yeah... well thankfully it's not my main rig. Wich does have an Asus board but at the moment is fine and has warranty. Anyway thanks for your reply.
