ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 790X Startup issue

Hello,
First time building a system and I am stuck. I bought the following components:
Motherboard - Asus M4A79XTD EVO 790X AM3
CPU - AMD PHENOM II x4 945 3.0G AM3
Memory - Kingston HyperX DDR3 (I bought 3x2, but am only using 2x2)
VGA - Asus EAH 5550 Radeon HD 5550 1GB DDR3
Hard drive - Western Digital Blue 500GB 7200RPM SATA Bare Drive
PSU - Corsair CX430 430W ATX12V

When I plug in all the components, and turn on the power, the led on the motherboard turns on as well as all fans (Chassis, CPU, VGA and PSU) and front panel LEDs, but after 10s everything turns off except the LED on the motherboard. Nothing ever appears on the monitor. I have tested the PSU and it does work. I have also tried running the motherboard outside the chassis and still nothing. Asus technical support thinks it's a bad motherboard. Is there anything else I can do to confirm that?

Try just one stick of ram; reseat it in case it's not all the way in. Use dimm slot one. Also try another power supply if you have it. That corsair isn't as good as other models. It's low end by corsair standards.

Tried the one stick of RAM in the A1 slot, with the same results as before. My friend has a stonger power supply and I will try that this afternoon. The case I have (Antec VSK-2000) does not have a connector for the fan to go to the motherboard. If the motherboard doesn't detect a fan would it choose to turn off?

Only fan required is the cpu fan. If it's turning, then the board should post.

Well, we tested the system using a 550W psu and the same thing, it cuts off after about 10s. No post beeps. I am going to send the motherboard back. Thanks for your help.

So I received the "repaired" motherboard back from newegg, reconnected everything, and I still have the same problem as before, the computer turns on for about 10s then shuts off.

I had a similar problem when I first assembled my mobo. When the power cuts like that it can be short. Make sure you have rubber washers on your board's mounting screws. 😀
