Hello, I just bought all new components, put it all together and then tried POSTing but can't get into the BIOS. The ASUS boot screen shows up for about a second and I try to press DEL to get into BIOS but it goes right to the next boot screen saying "please enter setup to recover BIOS setting ... CMOS Time not set...shutting down in 15 seconds". Basically I cannot get into BIOS.

Any ideas? Is this possibly a faulty MOBO? Help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Try unplugging the unit, remove the cmos battery and press the power button for 30 seconds. Reinstall the cmos battery, plug the unit back in and power it up. Begin hitting delete as soon as you power up (Or whichever button is required to enter YOUR bios) immediately until the BIOS opens. If you still cannot enter the BIOS then you may need a new cmos battery. Occasionally you can get a board that's been sitting in the warehouse too long and has a dead battery.

If you still have issues check the BIOS version which should be printed on the box for your motherboard or you might be able to catch a glimpse of it on the POST screen. If it is older than version 1603 or even if it isn't (At this point you might have a corrupted BIOS image)...

If it is older than version 1603 or even if it isn't (At this point you might have a corrupted BIOS image) you can download the version 1603 image and flash the BIOS using the usb flash utility which you can get from the ASUS website. If you are unable to do this either you will likely need to RMA the unit back to ASUS if you cannot get into the BIOS to initiate a reset of the cmos time and date along with the default settings.
