Hi. I am looking forward to buy a new ram which is Kingston Hyperx Fury 8gb 1600mhz ddr3. The story is, when I first looking at my mobo specs, it says "2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
"

Then i saw these words: Due to CPU spec., AMD AM3 CPUs on this motherboard support up to DDR3 1333MHz.

My question: Can i use the Hyperx Fury 8gb Ddr3 1600mhz on that Asus M5A78L-M LX3 with my Cpu which is AMD Phenom ii x4 955 BE(am3)? Is this mobo still support 1600mhz ram?

AMD Phenom ii x4 955 - HDX955WFK4DGM (95 watt TDP rev. C3) supported
AMD Phenom II X4 955 - HDX955FBK4DGM (125 watt TDP, rev. C3) not supported
AMD Phenom II X4 955 - HDX955FBK4DGI (125 watt, rev. C2) not supported

M5A78L-M LX3 supports CPU up to 95 Watts.

Rev C3 saw introduction of improved memory controller.
Supported memory: DDR2-1066, DDR3-1333

DDR3-1600MHz has been used for overclocking.

AM3 CPUs by design, are set for DDR3-1333MHz memory modules. That doesn't mean that you can't run 1600MHz RAM or, even if you do, that you are entering the world of overclocking but, it does mean that you need to understand the inherent problems of running your RAM above 1333MHz.

You run the risk of system instability and even damaging the Memory Controller on the CPU. If, however, you do overclock your CPU, it is recommended that you purchase a good quality 3rd party CPU heatsink to aid CPU cooling and also remember that officially, neither Asus or AMD support overclocking of their products.
