Hello.

I have an old computer on asus m5a78lm lx v2, Phenom II X4 965 BE, Kingston 8GB RAM. I changed the PSU to new, put in gtx 1060 and implemented new SSD disk.
I will be replacing the motherboard soon with processor, Im not here for you to comment that.
My problem is: I have old HDD Seagate 1TB, New SSD Transcend 128GB. I booted win 10 from USB, formated both disks, installed win on SSD.
Now in BIOS I changed disk boot priority to SSD. Nothing happens. BIOS wants me to put in bootable media devide or select a disk and press a key which doesn't do anything.
What I can do is to set boot to this old HDD, then the message that my windows is corrupted is occuring and I can press F9 to load different windows which then starts my windows on SSD. What is funny: my old HDD is C: and SSD is D:. Now: my profile folder has been set on HDD, not SSD.

I tried with different disks, different SATA ports. Nothing happens.

Anybody has any idea? Thanks in advance.

Motherboard has AMD SB710 controller :
6 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), blue (no SATA 6Gb/sec ports)

You need to select SATA 1 to 4 ports in BIOS, set to [AHCI].
You will have SATA ports 5 and 6 at the default [IDE] setting. Connecting optical drives in IDE mode may be useful.

You need to add the SB7xx AHCI SATA driver to the beginning of your Windows 10 installation.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows+10+-+64

You need to unpack the AMD Chipset Drivers package 41 MB,
The installer will be looking for a folder with the SB7xx AHCI SATA driver for your operating system. W1064 or similar name.

You don't need to connect more than one drive to install the operating system. Once you download the Drivers Package, extract it by...
You didn't install windows correctly you are going to need to go back into the installation window and select custom then manually delete the partitions on both drive and select the ssd for windows to install.

Oh, on the HDD you will need to create a partition as windows won't sense it isn't the primary drive for the os.

I selected custom, formatted disks, deleted all partitions and then i proceeded with instalation.
I want the SSD to be primary for OS, but I don't know how to convince my stupid computer that SSD is C: drive

For the SSD if you want windows to install to it leave it blank with no partitions. Just highlight the ssd by clicking it and hit next to install to that drive.. That's what it mean when it says select which drive you just click the ssd when you are ready hit next.. lol

I installed the windows correctly on SSD. That's not the point. Thing is when I try to boot this windows from SSD the BIOS doesn't see it. It just doesn't boot, it treats it like empty disk. I can run this windows by booting old HDD which has been formatted I get the message that windows is corrupted and then I can pick an option to run different copy of windows, which is on the SSD. Normally the windows will not boot from SSD.

I don't think the os is installing correctly try removing the hard drive or disconnect the SATA cable and reinstall the os one last time for me. It sounds like either windows or the motherboard is causing some kind of installation error.. That or perhaps your flash drive with install iso is corrupt and needs to be re-done.

Update: Also, clear bios and load defaults just to be safe before installing OS again.
