Hello,
My daughter got a computer as a christmas present yesterday. Since I couldn't afford a completely new computer, I have used some old parts and some new. All parts works. What I don't know is if there is som campatible issue with the memory.

I build the computer and put in two sata drives and the above parts. The first time I use Kingston ram 4gb dual channel 1333mhz instead of the corsair above. I installed Windows 7 and my daughter have used the computer a couple of days now, playing WOW and other things. It has worked perfectly. Second time I remove the memory and install the above from corsair. It also worked perfectly at the beginning. I don't know for how long time, but an hours, two hours or so. Then she left the computer. After we had seen a movie she went back to the computer and it had shut down for som reason I don't understand. I tried to turn it on, but nothing happen, as if it was dead. I tried several times without luck. I opened the case and removed the powerswitch cables and inserted them again. Then I closed the case and started the computer. Now it start but I get error on post sceen: Overclocking failed and it tells me to get into bios to change configuration. I press to get into bios, but it hangs. I restart and Windows starts. Now it works as it should.
But why the error? I haven't tried to overclock and the only thing I have done in Bios is to change the boot sequence to be able to install from DVD. Since the problem arise after installing the ddr3 8gb dualchannel 1600mhz, I guess the problems lies in new ram. It is 1600mhz, but doesn't show 800mhz, instead it show half of 1333 (667mhz).
I have read something about MB that doesn't support 1600mhz get default 1333, but this MB does support 1600mhz and the frequency should be 800mhz with dual channel. The memory is inserted correct in first and third slot with the same color. Are these memory incompatible with the MB anyway?
From the beginning we bought the corsair memory to my boyfriends computer, a gigabyta 890fxa-ud5, but the dram frequency only show 667mhz. We searched with google and did find out that his MB didn't support 1600mhz at all. Therefore we tried to use them on the Asus M5A87 instead.
Shouldn't we use the corsair memory in any of the two above Mobo? Can we damage something? Are there any settings we should do? Clear cmos or in bios reset to default?
I am worried the computer will shut down again, because there must be something wrong when it shut down the first time.
