Asus M5A97 EVO R2 GPU detection error

Heyo all,

My mobo is now misbehaving. Or at least it's the mobo that is failing, i think.

I now can't even power up my PC. When i do, i get the audio error code from the mobo saying that the GPU can't be detected. But the GPU is in the slot and is powering up - lights up and fans start spinning. But i don't have any output displayed on my monitor.

I thought it might be the slot that's started to go wonky and tested it on x4 slot.Just for testing purposes. Same thing - same audio error code despite the card powering up.

What should i now be doing to further diagnose what the problem might be? Idon't have a spare GPU to test at the moment.

The GPU in question is a MSI 290X Lightning and i have the Corsair TX750 PSU.

If it`s a chain or string of bios beep error codes.

The following is the code legend from the manual:

BIOS Beep
Description

One short beep
VGA detected
Quick boot set to disabled
No keyboard detected

One continuous beep followed by two
short beeps then a pause (repeated)
No memory detected

One continuous beep followed by three
short beeps
No VGA detected

One continuous beep followed by four
short beeps
Hardware component failure

Mine is the third error - long beep with 3 short beeps. VGA is not detected despite it powering up.
