So here's the thing,This is my first PC upgrade,I'm on low budget, and the only things I plan on upgrading are CPU,Mobo,GPU and PSU. Currently I'm looking up CPUs and MOBOs,I've found ASUS M5A97 PLUS and FX 8300. I've been reading reviews about that motherboard and that CPU. As far as the motherboard, overall they say it's decent, not bad for the money. CPU on the other hand,as I've seen, they say it's not really worth it,my question is how/why ? Plus I like the motherboard because I don't have to upgrade BIOS(My Current CPU is Athlon II X2 215),since All CPUs on motherboard's support list are supported on 0208 BIOS version, which is the ''starting'' version of it. I'm planing on using my PC for gaming mostly,I'll play on 1366x768 if my DVI-VGA Adapter works with my monitor and GPU I plan on buying,or if not, then on 1600x900. I'd go for FX-8320,but it is quite more expensive than FX-8300 where I live. As the tittle goes, are those two components worth it ? Thank you for answering :)

Solution
How much were you budgeting total for CPU & mb??

Id essentially go with the 6300,a slightly better motherboard & an aftermarket cooler if you can creep it into budget.

A better overall choice than the 8300 & that particular board IMO.

Not more than 170-180e,but it does sound good,I've been thinking of getting FX-6300 for a while,it's still good with everyday gaming,It occurred to me that FX-8300,might be slightly better, but I wouldn't be able to utilize all power of either of those CPUs,so why waste money on FX-8300 when FX-6300 is financially better choice and can still hold quite a ground gaming-wise.

What country are you ??
On a tight budget id take the gigabyte 970-ds3p over that Asus plus board - its just ever so slightly better quality.

You're not undercutting yourself with a 6300 over a 8300 for primarily gaming - its a better CPU choice full stop.

now try & squeeze an aftermarket cooler into the budget - do you have an online shop?? I could look for the best priced/most suitable option.

Yeah,I'm buying online,it's a better option, and If I manage to squeeze the cooler,I'll probably look onto Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO,it's one of the better ones, yet not so expensive.
