Asus M5A97 R2.0

Any opinions on the Asus M5A97 R2.0? i plan on pairing it with a XFX Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card and an amd fx 6300 cpu. Using this for gaming.

I have the same set up with a lower video card xfx 6770, but I really like the set up. Asus mobo worked flawlessly out of the box and by using the built in overclock in the easy bios the fx is at 3.8 with one button push. Have not stress tested it yet, but she runs cool and very stable. Only problem is ram, there is a list of brands and model numbers you should pick from to keep from having issues with the mobo. I got 8 gb of corsair vengeance 1866 off the list and no issues there. I did just update the bios and seems to run even better, but she ran just fine before. I hope this helps!

And from what I have read that gpu will do fine with that set up, again that is from what I have read for what its worth..

so any kind of crossair vengeance should be ok right? i have 8 gb of it but mines the 1600 instead of the 1866

Just pull up the list off of the Asus web site, its a PDF called the QVL, or Qualified Vendor List. Its broken down into speed so get to the 1600 list and see if its on it. I would really check first before you build. If nothing else just to keep from getting frustrated when all you want to do is build the computer. ..

I just built a build with a AMD 8350 and an XFX 7870 with 8GB of Corsair RAM. So far it works very well! although my motherboard is detecting my RAM at 1333 while it should be 1600..

You can change that in the BIOS.
