Hello to the TH community.
I just picked up an Asus M5a99fx pro R2.0. It's a very nice board, tons of options no only with the hardware but with the bios/software. About a two days ago I got the MB all set up and built back into my current rig, and everything worked well. One thing I noticed was that the GPU that I have takes up two slots and covers the PCIE slot in the first X16 slot.
I did not account for this, having a wireless adapter that is made for an PCIE this became an issue. So What I did was switched the wireless adapter into the PCI slot, this worked okay but I noticed my internet was running at half the speed and was slow as dirt, so I decided it was best to keep it in the pcie slot. I then switched my gpu into the Third PCIX slot, PCIX16 slot 3. Slot 2 and slot 4 are X4-X8 slots.
And then installed my Adapter back into the PCIE slot. This worked great, only now I have no Audio! I initially thought it was due to having my one and only GPU in the second X16 slot. I know it is recommended to have one card in the main slot. So I switched my GPU back to the first X16 slot and moved my wireless adapter to the last PCIX4 slot. Everything seems to be working fine, but still no audio.
Now if you followed all of that, this brings me to my current problem. I have tried checking options in the realtek HD audio manager, windows audio device section, uninstalling the drivers for realtek and reinstalling them. Reinstalling the drivers for the graphics card, and checking the options in the BIOS.
I really did not find an option specifically for using the onboard or a gpu audio. Idk, maybe I just don't know what the options mean. The only real option is for the front audio ports, changing them to Ar-97(something like that) and an option for HD.
The strange part is, there is some sound feedback when booting up. I get almost like a pulse sound, or reverb click sound that goes off every 10 seconds about. So that does tell me there is some audio trying to come through maybe? I am thinking there is some option I have missed. I really hope the MB itself is not bad. The audio worked just fine from the start, does anybody have any ideas on this issue?
