I just noticed my pc detected all the ram 2x 1gb (total= 2gb) but in windows 8.1 pro x64 , it shown 2gb (909mb usable).

I have running out of idea and thinking to return to shop next week...attached some pictures:

I have tried swapping the rams and i found out if i put the ram in slot 1 or slot 2 only, the pc will boot up without problem and show up the correct value in both windows and bios. but if i put the ram in slot 3 or slot 4 only, pc wont boot up. if i put the ram in slot 2 and slot 4 , I checked the Bios, it just displayed total ram was 1gb instead of 2gb (the correct value) but in SPD information, it detected both rams. It seem i will have the problem if using slot 3 & 4.

any helps will be appreciated!

thanks

That's because slot 1 an 2 are the slots you are SUPPOSED to be using with only 2 modules. And if you only have 2gb installed, what other amount is windows supposed to show as installed. 2gb installed equals windows reports 2gb installed. What's the problem?

No,looked a bit in the manual and the best/recommended ram install would be first in the blue slots, are imo 2+4.The slots 1+2=black and blue are one channel. If 3 or 4 doesn't work it can be either the motherboard or the memory controller on the cpu.

What does the task manager show in windows when populating slots 2+4?

As much as I hate to admit it, and I do hate to admit it because you're starting to piss me off, apparently you are correct. It seems there are differences between the recommended configuration of the memory on the M5A99X Rev.1 board and the EVO rev.2. I must have looked at the wrong manual. Are you specifically looking for threads I've replied to or what?
