Hi all,
I have got a hold of an external PS/2 mouse connector for
Asus boards of about the 1997 vintage.
I had the plug checked and the female pin out on the mainboard side appears to be correct. Its for plugging on the actual Asus Mainboard (in this case a P6NP5 Pentium Pro board). Its the one for the six pin block on board. The revision 1.4 board has the jumper enabled for PS/2 connector. Its enabled in the bios also (its the latest BIOS). The mouse is detected in Windows XP and Windows 98, but moves erratically and in very large steps on the screen. The mice I have tried both work perfectly on a newer computer with a built-in PS/2 mouse port. Occaisonally the keyboard locks up when the PS/2 connector is connected. Is there something I haven't done? Suggestions please!
