i have the Max V formula, and it says it can do up to 2800mhz OC. what has to be OC to get there?? and what is the difference in 1800mhz and 2800mhz for ram? what is the difference in latencey? im a newb, i know i know

Anything past DDR3-1600 is an overclocked configuration for DRAM.

The latency depends on the timings of the memory. To calculate the CAS latency use this formula:

True CAS Latency = (CAS * 2000) / Memfreq

Where Memfreq is the stated DDR3 operating frequency.

For example:

Say you had memory modules rated at DDR3-2000 with CAS 7

(7* 2000) / 2000 = 7ns

ns = sano seconds.

Bear in mind that anything past DDR3-1600 on these platforms is not guaranteed - the memory controllers on the processors are variable and not all will achieve DDR3-2800 even if you buy memory modules rated at that speed. On top of that, there is not much if any real world gain to running memory frequencies over DDR3-1600 anyway.

Hope this helps.

yes it does, thank you the CAS is at 10-10-10-27 for 32gigs of corsair vengeance but i swear it says like 9-9-9-11 in my bios, im at work so cnt look at it right this second
the system seems to run better when it is at 1333mhz instead of 1600, could something be holding it back a little??
