Asus Maximus Formula & gpu

Need help in choosing the right gpu for Maximus Formula. This m/b is crossfire ready not sli, correct? If i had to choose between Ati 3870, 8800gt 512, & 8800gts 512 gpu's whats my best option here? I was thinking of going sli or crossfire in future, but is it really worth it?
Also, is the SE Maximus formula a better choice?

8800GTS 512 > 8800GT > HD 3870

The difference between MAXIMUS FORMULA and SE MAXIMUS FORMULA is that the SE version has Fusion Block System which i dont think will be used

formula SE is for water cooling, if running on air the SE is a waste of money.
this board is crossfire NOT SLI, (unless hacked drivers come out)
8800GT or 8800GTS are a good choice, if GT maybe think about a third party GPU cooler (they get hot!)
dont know about temps or performance on GTS

what is a good gpu cooler?

also, these are the prices i can get the gpus for, which one is the better choice?

BFG 8800gt OC 512 $247
BFG 8800gt OC2 512 $315
XFX 8800gts 512 alpha dog ed. $326

8800GTS 512 > 8800GT

also i say dont get a cooler for it, because the stock fan is good
