Hey guys, I got a question im sure most of you are tired of answering so ill be as fast as i can and try to pretend to know what im talking about.. I just recently bought all the parts to a new computer from amazon... i ended up going a little all out and spending like 1.6k... well anyway the day i got my last essential part, I built it, and booted.. all was well.. even for a few days after that. couple days go by maybe 2-3 and I get my new power supply in the mail. Shutdown, unplugged everything , grounded myself, and grabbed a screw driver. Put it all back together every last piece and i didnt forget a damn thing nor was anytghing backwards, no metals touching mobo, blah blah blah... I boot, starts for one second, boom. shuts down... all my case fans, gpu fans, cpu cooler, mobo lights turn on, but it shuts itself off after literally 1 second... maybe less sometimes... Now by now im sure your screaming the i7 4790k is not combatable with the Asus Maximus VI Extreme you dummy. and ill reply by saying why yes sir, you are correct... but the motherboard was used. and it had already been flashed for the 4790k because when i first put it together it booted and ran, and she purred, im telling ya... But forsome reason it doesnt wanna boot now... ive torn it down a handfull of times to bare bones, ive had the mobo out on a table trying to trouble shoot it for 2-3 days now... Now when i hear about this bios update problem I usually hear about how they see blue screen... i dont think ive read a story yet where its happend the way it is to me... Im trying to figure out if I can fulling update my mobo without having to go into bios... if i can do it on a usbflash drive..

are you suggjesting that this could be my problem? maybe my psu blew my pc ?

I have had it benched for 3 days.... I had a tech come out and look at it. He says it could be a faulty mobo, but he also says he has never in his 20 years seen a maximus 6 extreme go out, yet alone kill other components. I still have my mobbo benched, with bare essintials in it. 1 stick of ddr3 2x 8g Gskill 1600mhzz, and sometimes i take that out to try it without it. i dont feel ram is my issue, because when i unplug my cpu. my mobo will run my fans... which im guessing is my bios running them

Now you dont HAVE to have a 4+8 pin cpu power cables to run it do you? cause i was running it with just a 4 pin cpu power cable and i was playin csgo for 2-3 days ,...

yeah but doesnt come with a 4 pin cpu power cable. all the cables given are actually rig ht there on the box... they do not give a 4pin, so i have ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. hopefully that'll do the trick.... even t hough i had it running with 4 just fine on my old PSU, and i even tried that one again, 5 times over.... Iono its weird...

update:
i read that a little wrong, are you talking about the 8 pin cpu connecter that can split and be 4+4

yeah but do i connect 4 of the 8 or 8 of the 8.... on my mobo i have a 4 pin slot and a 8 pin slot... 4 more pinslots needed for power than my psu gave me

so i prolly burnt my motherboard out running it on a 4 pin then....
