Question ASUS Maximus VI Formula 8 pin + 4 pin power ?+

Hello once again people, I got my hands on a ASUS Maximus VI Formula with a i7-4770k with 16gb of ram so It was stupid not to get it and I got it, got it into a chassis and the system runs fine but... I am quite curious why it needs a 8 pin CPU power and additional 4 pin, can anyone explain ? I don`t have a psu at the moment that has a spare 4 pin, can anyone explain ? The manual is very unclear to what purpose does this serve

You don't need to use the add'l 4-pin socket unless you are applying VERY heavy overclocking or running multiple GPUs. The system will work just fine with just the 8-pin socket connected, otherwise.
