Asus Maximus VI GENE Will not post (00 code)

None of the red LED's are lit for failed hardware, and the code means 'not used'. I didn't do any overclocking. I'm not getting any beep codes. I tried updating/downgrading the BIOS. Tried another PSU (known good, I am using it right now). Checked the RAM for issues, it is good. unplugged any non essential components, and resetting the CMOS. All to no avail.

CPU: i7 4770 (non k)
RAM: 1866 DDR3 Geil Evo Veloce
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI GENE (BIOS is on original release)
PSU: 1000W semi modular Thermaltake Smart-M Series
Case: Corsair Air Series 540
SSD: Crucial M500 120GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
GPU: MSI GTX 770 2GB OC (not currently installed both to rule it out as a culprit and keep it safe in my old system)

I was hoping someone would have some knowledge on these motherboards and could provide any recommendations or RMA won't have it back to me until next Thursday at the earliest.

Yeah I ran through it last night, I always use that list in case I miss anything. Good recommendation though. I am glad that was the first post I got, makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

That's too bad. That post covers pretty much any human error when building the system. It means you probably have dead hardware. Luckily you were able to swap out the PSU and rule that out. And you're not using graphics cards so that's out. Tested ram and tried in different slots so that's out. Checked cpu for bent pins so that's out... motherboard.... damn.

Yeah I was just hoping to get back into development this weekend but oh well. Next weekend is a three day so I will have more time anyway, and I will pick up another monitor as well. Got to watch those tut's

That RAM isn't on the QVL list is it? I have this same board and I've come to realize that it is EXTREMELY sensitive to RAM. I had four sticks that are known to be good, and are in use in two of my other builds (Two 8GB- 4x4 kits). They gave the same Q Codes (00) and wouldn't work. When I went out and bought 1866 Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM that was on the QVL, everything worked fine. Now, you very well could have a dead board, but I would definitely try to find some RAM that is on the QVL, if you haven't already, and see if that will fix your issue.

It is. I actually just RMAed the board long ago. New one works great. The RAM defaults to 1600 due to the CPU but XMP profiles solve that in a jiffy. This was my first ROG board, I still like them the new one is chugging along without an issue. I definitely feel its important to keep in mind not every product with semiconductor technology in it well work flawlessly.

I'm going through the same 00 code on my Maximus VI Impact mobo too... I had the system running stable for a good couple weeks with it running 24-7 doing F@H on highest settings and I noticed at some point the ram voltages dropped way below normal during waking up the pc from hibernation. This morning I went to turn it on and it powered on for a brief second and then it shut down and restarted with no post to BIOS... just a running pc without a picture. If I reload the BIOS via the usb method on the mobo, it will bootup after a BIOS update... did this 2 times in like 3 or 4 weeks time... =(

I was using G.Skill Sniper memory and just in process of an RMA through newegg.com for a swap to G.Skill RipjawsX memory. I'll share my findings with an update later in a week or so. Here's my current specs and a link to the new memory I'm gonna try when it gets here.

I now believe it has something to do with the clock adjustments for the RAM, some just don't like it. Or an ACPI setting is affecting it's ability to wake from sleep. Leave the RAM and non-overclocking power settings alone and still no issues.

I replaced my G.Skill sniper memory with the ripjaws and still had issues where the pc would not post past the 00 code... so I rechecked all the connections on the mobo and noticed a usb 2.0 header wasn't properly seated in. I also pulled the cpu and checked for bent pins, none found. So I then pulled the battery and put that back in, then I used the usb stick to reload/update the bios stuff. Then I cleaned off all the old thermal crap, applied new artic silver to the cpu. I then very carefully did my best to evenly tighten all the cpu cooling mount screws for my liquid cooler. Since doing all of this I have not had a 00 code issue so far. I'm now running the system in XMP mode from the bios screen and doing F@H all day with that running. I have also tried multiple reboots and have turned the system on and off for a few hours to see if any hardware error pop up again. So far, so good for my gaming pc. =)

Prior to all these issues, I was able to run the system most of the time... but occasionally after turning the system off and powering it on after many hours of no use, I would randomly get that darn 00 code issue with now post or bios screen to work with. My only solution during those times was to reload the bios via a usb stick... it was pure BS for some time. I think things are golden now, but I will follow up if this issue continues in the future.

Here's the new memory I'm using now. G.Skill's site says this memory is test for our mobo's, so I'm gonna stay with G.Skill till the error pops up again, then I'll resort to whatever ASUS has listed for certified memory they go with.

How do get to the BIOS that quickly. Once I push power button the error 00 comes up straight away then almost immediately turns off again. So no time to even get to BIOS.

Internets tells me issue with CPU, Mboard or PSU. So your issue was RAM? hmm.

If your getting a 00 error code, you will not be able to access the BIOS. Your best options would be resetting the CMOS by removing the battery, updating the BIOS with the onboard tools that only require the PC to receive power (you won't need to turn it on), and checking your RAM installation and CPU installation.

Well looks like I'm having the same issues with the cpu led indicator on constantly even after updating the bios via flashback. This is a new setup for me from my older board but did notice my ram is outdated. Ddr3 pc3 10500 I'm assuming it says on the sticker. But would the cpu led be on if it was a ram problem?

Unfortunately no motherboards or CPUs are compatible with the 10500 RAM speed. Are you certain it's not 10600, that would be the lowest compatible.

Asus QVL memory list sucks, it even has errors in that it lists 128gb kits they have tested main 4 module kits too

and how many gamers need 32 or 64gb of ram? hardly any 2 module kits tested , if only memory in on their QVL worked they could stick their MOBO's
