the hdmi on my motherboard is not recognized by my tv so i cant have it project to my tv as a secondary display? how do i set this up because it worked fine on my laptop?

Are you using a discrete graphics card or the HDMI output direct from the mobo? Either way, need to go into the graphics area and set things up for multiple displays

im using the hdmi on the mobo b/c the hdmi on the gpu is plugged into my monitor. I want the tv to act as a projector not necessarily a second monitor

Is the mobo graphics even enabled in your BIOS? I've never tried to use both onboard and discreet at the same time myself but supposedly you need to enable it and set it to be the main adapter and then you can configure in Windows to use both.
