ASUS MAXIMUS VI hero power problem with 750ti graphics card

Hi, I have a brand new ASUS MAXIMUS VI Hero motherboard and it won't power on.

My system specs:

EVGA 750ti graphics card
24GB RAM
Intel Core i7 4790k
4 hard drives (2 TB (1 TB x 2), 60GB SSD, and a 160GB hard drive that i am going to wipe the old OS)
700W Thermaltake power supply

Will I have to upgrade the power supply? I have connected everything correctly, but it won't power on.

yes, your 750Ti is no need any power connector except PCIE..

no, you shouldn't. cd disk usually contains drivers and software..

Yes, i do hope your new board will solve the problem.

Thank you for your reply. As I said in my first post, it can't power on. Thus I can't do a BIOS update.

It doesn't even indicate that it is getting power. I upgraded the power supply to 850W and nadda. Do you think that the front panel connectors would be an issue?

well..that's big possibility..

Just try to power on your system through the power on button in your motherboard..

If it's running flawlessly, then you're right..the front panel is the issue..
if it's not, then just try my first suggestion..

Okay. I will do that. I see the start button and the reset button has lit up, so I know that the motherboard is not dead. I pressed the start button and it started the front panel fan for less than half a second, and then it turned off. I may need to gt a new case since my case is about 5 years old. It also doesn't have the extra connectors that the motherboard said it should.

UPDATE:

I pressed the bios flash bk button on the motherboard and there came a red light on the motherboard. What does that mean?

Well, I took out the GPU and that didn't work, I also tried unplugging the harddrive sata cables, that didn't work. I upgraded my powersupply to Thermaltake 850W and that did something. The start and Reset buttons were lit, but when I pressed the start button, it didn't go on.



Well, I sent it back thinking it was DOA. So, when I get this new board, hopefully this one will work. I hate working on my laptop for school stuffs.

There are four boot LED's on most Asus board that tell you if the BIOS detected the CPU, GPU, RAM and primary HD. It is normal for them all to come on, but each should turn off after a second or two as each device is detected. First, try to re-seat both your RAM and GPU. I embarrassingly did not fully seat my RAM a couple years ago. It looked OK, but wasn't fully clicked into position. Second, check with Asus's compatibility charts to see if your RAM is listed. You can also try running with only one stick. Read up on the "MEM OK" button on your board next to the RAM. It can test and try to set values for your RAM even if they are not compatible. Make sure your GPU is properly seated and the GPU's 6 and or 8 pin power connectors are properly inserted too.

Do you have the latest BIOS? Also, try with just a single stick of DRAM in slot 1, closest to the CPU....if problems persist try with a different DRAM if you have or can borrow a stick. This Fury line doesn't run based on XMP as do 99+ % of DRAM on the market, it's based on PnP...let us know if anything here helps

The thing is, that there are no power supply connectors anywhere on the GPU. I could not see where to plug in the power connectors to the GPU. This is the graphics card that I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IDG3PRI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

To answer your question, I probably do. When I get my new motherboard tomorrow, should I insert the CD that comes with the motherboard in my CD-ROM drive before booting it up?

Also, I pressed the "MEM OK" button and the corresponding LED did not light up when I pressed it. Also, the error code box did not come on either. I will check the RAM to see if it is compatible with the Motherboard.

It also kinda helps to get the right ram for the motherboard. I took a look at the list of RAM that the Motherboard had and I purchased the wrong ones.

CMX16GX3M2A1600C11 and BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00 is not compatible with the Motherboard. So I ordered the right ones. Also, how do I update the BIOS to fit my intel i7 4790k?

download the file to the USB Drive.... save the file to the root of the USB (if it is Zipped.. unZIPit)

Attach the USB to the system before boot...

While Boot goto the BIOS.... on the last option ... there has a Utilities call Asus EZ Flush
or something like that refer to your MB Manuel..

choose use BIOS file in the USB .... and it will update....

I was able to get my computer up and running. It seems like my case was really old (2006) and I needed to replace the case, and my ram because it wasn't specified in the book. Also, the motherboard was DOA, I replaced it, when I received it, I had my friend help me build my computer, and walla! It is up and running! Thank you for your support throughout this ordeal! I really appreciate it!
