As a precursor, I consider myself rather nerdy and know the ins and outs of trouble shooting. I have also searched for about 12 hours for threads on multiple forums looking for people with similar issues and that is why I am lead to post.
Ok, so I picked up an Asus Impact last year, and started to attempt to build a current gen pc, upon the initial set up, everything worked great and I just needed some after market cooling, so flipped her off and waited. Got a new cooler to tide me over (I am a Comp Sci student and needed something to code on) and was looking to dive into liquid cooling. When I got the new cooler, took everything apart made sure she looked good, slapped the corsair H100i on there (got her from a friend who never used her) and attempted to go to town, only to find that she would not boot.... did all the basic trouble shooting so on and so fourth, ended up having to RMA it.... blah blah.
Leads us to here and now, got the new board left her on stock air in a very ventilated case and didn't push it to hard. She ran just fine for roughly 6 months, a move to a new apartment, and than another 2. I started picking up custom liquid cooling components and getting ready to finally do a dream build. got everything prepped, so on and so fourth and hooked it up to an EK Supremacy.
Put the backplate on, put the block on, connected only what I needed (RAM, 1 SSD which contained all my junk, and processor. Nothing else, no via etc.) plugged it in, the "Start" button lit up pushed it, nothing. Gave her a second, pushed it again, nothing. NO Q CODE (want to make this clear, not 00, absolutely nothing) onboard LED didn't flash, I got nothing. Ok.... so broke her back down reseated the socket, looked at the pins and made sure no TIM got into contact etc etc. Saw nothing.... everything appeared ok. Started digging saw a few post about a possible short, and also saw that someone pulled the mPCI card and it was ok. So I broke her down to the CPU and the stock intel cooler, no RAM no mPCI, nothing. Plugged her in, she started reading like normal but reset after about 10 seconds, went through the boot and I was able to get to BIOS just fine.... weird. Ok so plugged in one RAM, did booted, she went to BIOS. Did the same kind reboot after 10 second thing, kind of weird. Sitting in bios everything looks ok, so I plug the SSD in and see what I get. SSD gets detected but will not boot straight to it.... thinking this is just weird.... but whatever. Poking around in bios just looking etc and she shut off, in my head I think it's just getting hot because it's not ventilated very well sitting on the box.
Flip her off and try the Water Block now. Before I repute the block, I lay the gasket/backplate on and make sure there are no pins that could cause a short. As an extra precaution I laid down some Scotch Super 88 vinyl tape to make sure, I used 2 layer to make sure they don't poke through. put the water block back on, figured I'd try my luck: connected mPCI, 2 RAM sticks, and the SSD, plugged in, had water pumping through to start the cooling process, and turned on the PSU: Start button lights up, I push it and were back to square one. No QCode, no on board LED, nothing.... ok so take mPCI SSD and RAM out and try just CPU and water, nothing.... completely blank. This is where I am stuck, what is going on.....
After each iteration I pulled the battery to reset cmos, made sure no static ever hit the mono, the board has sat on the box through the entire process. I have reseated the CPU and RAM multiple times. No pins are bent, no TIM touched the socket or contact points. Check all cables etc etc.
TL;DR : ASUS impact second board worked before, switched to water, Start button lights up but will not post and no QCode / OnBoard led. Went back to Stock intel air, started from CPU alone and moved up, everything seemed ok, went back to water, back to nothing. Took precautions (insulated possible shorts, reseated carefully, etc). Have NO idea what is happening.
Sorry for the WoT, just super frustrated and I know some people are going to think I am an idiot and "forgot to plug in the PSU" or something. My personal email is Panking_Undead@yahoo.com if you want to contact me directly.
Thank you guys and again sorry for the wall of text....
