Hi there I have 2 problems, 1 with motherboard/BIOS settings and another with the CPU, for the time being, I would like to thank you for reading this.

I cannot use the computer so please at least post something. It is so awkward without a PC.

I had once changed 1 option in the BIOS and it kept giving crashes when the Windows 8.1 loading screen is there. It just gives the Windows 8 blue screen and restarts. I then changed it back, then now after a while encountering a problem with the CPU I reseted all the BIOS options to default and I forgot that, that one option that gives me crashes is included in the default options and will give me crashes again. Now I forgot what option was it that gave me crashes.

I know for sure that is just the one option in BIOS that needs turning off or changing it to make windows work.

Quick specs: Windows 8.1
GTX 970
Intel core i-7 4790k
Asus Maximus VII Hero

How do you update BIOS for this motherboard? I researched and some guy said it helped him with the exact same error from an option.

If you need more info please tell me, if you even need a video I will give you, just please, please help me.

It supports USB BIOS flashback. So get the latest BIOS extract it rename it to whatever the manual says to rename it to

Then put it in whatever USB port that supports flashback. BUT, whatever you do, dont flash beta BIOS's. They're beta for a reason

It also supports ez flash. If you can still get into the BIOS go to the tools menu. The ez flash option maybe there select it. After you do the above

Hi, I had to just re-install windows. It was a BIOS setting that made Windows crash when it was loading the startup programs or other tweaking software that changes the settings again. Now everything is fine. I made a BIOS update and it didn't help but it is still useful to update. Reseting to default setting still crashed because it included that option that crashes Windows.

Hi guys, I re-installed Windows which resetted fully the BIOS settings. I spend 30 minutes to find the problem. It was an option error in BIOS setting.

In the BIOS, there is this little wheel at the top right for my motherboard. If you spin it onto "Performance" out of "Normal" and "Power saver" the Performance setting will change this setting "SATA Mode Selection" from "AHCI" to RAID" which will crash Windows. Is there a way to post this bug/error that is really annoying that will make you do a complete wipe of your PC if you don't know what to do?
