Greetings,

I built my first ever gaming desktop yesterday, but now I am experiencing problems with the microphone.

- The microphone is connected to the motherboard
- The audio is working just fine, but not the microphone it self

If you need screenshot, specifications or anything else, then please don't be afraid to ask! I really need my microphone tonight. I would be SUPER happy if you guys could help me and solve this problem.

Windows 7 @ Professional @ 64-bit
Headset: Steel Series Siberia V2

Thank you so much in advance! :)

I tried plugging it into the front of the case instead, but the audio was horrible, and still no luck with the mic.

I'm having the same issue, just recently built the computer and no matter which mic port i plug into motherboard (back) or front panel audio, I can't get windows 8.1 to detect the 3.5 mm headset/microphone . I've made sure the cable and mic work on other devices so that's not the issue. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers to no avail.

There is that little blue box about 3 feet down the cable. You can turn the microphone on and off with a little "slide" of that button. Have you tried that?

Also, you're certain the 3.5mm jacks are plugged into the correct connections? One is for the mic and the other for the headset.

Would the cause for my issue be that the headset/mic I'm using comes only with one 3.5mm line in only and not split into audio and mic connectors?

also, on this headset there is no mute mic button just volume up and down.
