Hi guys, I was going to ask this directly at asus rog but I guess after registering you can't post, not clue how long the wait time to be able to use the forums.

But anyways, I just swapped my motherboard out and installed an Asus Maximus VII Hero.

I been reading through the manual to learn all the different features, the first problem I've ran into is under Windows 10 I downloaded there audio driver for windows 10

Audio V6.0.1.7525 Win10(WHQL) SonicRadar2.1.24

They also have one listed without SonicRadar, not sure what all is different or how you even launch anything SonicRadar related at this point.

However, when you install the realtek audio hd drivers it ask you to reboot. Upon rebooting it just continues to reinstall the audio drivers over and over until you cancel it, then the hd audio manager will appear in the icon tray (this happens with the Windows 8.1 drivers also).

Well in my manual it shows there is a tab in hd audio manger labeled as "Sonic Studio" this is where you can setup the EQ and other presets. I however do NOT have this tab. I have all the ones they show but this one.

So I uninstall the drivers for windows 10 and installed the drivers for windows 8.1. Same thing, everything works but I have no tab for "Sonic Studio".

Solution
according to the ROG forum you must :

1.register your product
2.download and update your bios for you mobo to the most current one
3.then download and install new audio drivers and software(realtek)

try that. there were some thread on audio issues and this seemed to be a fix that worked for some audio plug in issues

I have an asus maxiumus vii formula and sonic radar is an icon on the desktop. I have found that that the speaker icon( not the windows one) the the bottom of left hand corner of the screen pulls up realtek hd audio manger which has all equalizers, surround, bass boost, etc.

I'm using the Realtek speaker Icon not the windows one. There is no Sonic Studio tab. And I never had anything put on desktop or installed at all regarding Sonic Radar. However if you go into the driver folder you download, there are "Sonic Radar Plugins" listed "Audio_V6_0_1_7525_Win10_WHQL_SonicRadar2_1_24\Audio_V6.0.1.7525_WHQL\Driver\SonicRadar" But nothing is isntaled.

Here is a screen shot of my screen, no sonic studio tab exist like shown in the manual.

supreme fx is awesome... you don't need sonic radar. its only feature is to change sound in game by assigning shift, tab, and alpha numeric keys to switch between equalizer presets like fps, video, rpg and things like that. its kind of stupid. and it attemps to find where sounds are coming from so you can see where someone is sniping you from or footsteps (where someone is sneaking up on you) i doubt it works. nothing beats tact and skill...

Look in your books, there is a tab missing that should be right after "Speaker Configuration" listed as "Sonic Studio". This is where you setup your presets and manual EQ settings, etc. That's a feature on all Realtek HD screen's I've used, just with the ROG its under a tab called "Sonic Studio". You can watch videos on this board on youtube..etc its there on all the reviews. So not only am i missing it but I can't configure any of that stuff now which I always do to get better sound with a user defined EQ setting.

MAXIMUS VII HERO BIOS 2702
Implement 5th-Generation Intel Core Processors code
*Full support of the new CPU requires VGA driver version 10.18.14.4206 or later
*Before using the 5th Gen Intel Core processors, we suggest that you use USB BIOS Flashback or download ”BIOS updater for 5th Gen Intel Core Processors”to update the BIOS.

Ok sorry for the late reply I went out last night, ok I'm going to update the bios now, the reason I didn't do that before is I usually don't touch the bios revisions if they don't include anything that is specific to me, but I'll be back with some info afterwards.

Well, on one hand it seems to have worked, so awesome suggestion good looking out. However, as expected in life while it fixed one issues it caused another. Now the PC will not shutdown, doing a shutdown just seems to restart the computer but its not even a full restart, just seems to log out and then back in kind of thing. I've went through all the bios and windows power management options and I can't find anything out of the norm.

No change, I continued to look into all the power states, c-states etc and can't find any reason for shutdown not working.

So I fixed the shutdown issue by going into power options and turning off Fastboot, the description confused me "Boot up faster from shutdown". If your shutting down I don't know why there would be an option to boot right back up, seems like you'd just do a restart if that's what you were looking for.
