Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO

I have always tried to avoid Asus as much as possible but have a hard time trying to determine whether or not I should go with the Maximus VII Hero motherboard for my next build. Some of the reports say that certain people have received a used motherboard when they bought it new. Then there are reports of receiving bent cpu socket pins and Asus becomes uptight at this point because they are ignorant and claim the user did it.

I just want some light shed on whether or not Asus' QA is going down or is it user error that makes them seem like the bad guy. Most of the reports, in general, are Asus' horrendous Customer Support.

Again, I have always wanted to use an ROG motherboard but seem skeptical with how many reports are given about Asus.

Please leave any comments about ROG motherboard or Asus motherboards in general. :)

I honestly tend to go Asus when possible...

Make sure you are dealing with someone that handles their own stock, the store I buy from imports thier own merchandise so there is no worry of defective or used hardward.

I recvomend buying the board at a store and not online since some stores have a policy to open the board in front of you to make sure everything looks good and they also handle the warrenty for you.

Even if you can't do that, i would still reccoment Asus. I own that very own board for about a year now and from simply booting to actually overclocking it's all smooth sailing!

Just to give you a ballpark on the reliability on some products, I own an Asus laptop that is 5 years old and works 24/7 that reaches temperatures of 100 degrees C and refuses to die no matter what.
