I recently bought the Asus Maximus VIII and 6700k to upgrade my computer. My only real complaint about the Motherboard is that the RGBs for a lot of the colors have this red glow with it. I haven't really seen anyone else complain about it. I saw a review on newegg that said they had the same problem but I don't see it any more.

Basically When the RGB's go to Yellow, Green, Pink, Orange, White, and some other colors (whether its on color cycle or static) there is a Red Glow that makes what would be good colors kind of ugly. White looks palish pink on some parts of the board and yellow and Orange just look really bad. Some colors look perfect though, like Red(obviously), Blue, Cyan.

I don't know if this issue is a problem with the actual LED's on the board or the AURA software. Its annoying because I've seen peoples where it doesn't do that to them and the colors look really good and sharp. I haven't seen anywhere that really talks about this problem. I hope its not a RGB problem with the board its self because I really don't want to have to get it replaced.

I know its kind of a dumb complaint but I spent good money on this board and its kind of frustrating because otherwise its a great Mobo. If anyone has any Ideas on how to fix this. I would greatly appreciate it. If you need me to add anything like a picture of what I mean or elaborate on something further I'm more than happy to.

Hi, I've recently bought the same motherboard and have exactly the same issue (slight pink/purple tint when white is selected). I really struggled to find any posts about this issue as well so I've spoken with Asus tech support and sent them images of the lighting and the Aura software settings used and got this response from them.

"I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA.

I'm afraid that the lighting should not have that pinkish tint to it and should be a proper white color.

In this situation I would kindly recommend contacting your place of purchase and request an assessment & replacement within the manufacturer’s warranty as they will support you for the full extent of said warranty."

I've since had the motherboard replaced with a brand new one by the retailer and I've got the same issue again. I'm not sure now if its supposed to be like that or if its a common fault with this motherboard or if its an Aura software issue (tried using earlier version of Aura software with no luck) or something else. I'll be speaking to Asus tech support again tomorrow and hopefully get some more info on the problem but I find it hard to believe that the 2 motherboards I've received both have the exact same issue.

Hope this helps, and please let me know if you manage to resolve the issue somehow or get any more info, I would really appreciate it.

Got a reply back from Asus this morning which said,

"We are extremely sorry to hear that you are facing issues with your MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA.

Based on the provided information I understand that the unit cannot show the White LED as white but rather pinkish.

Unfortunately this is a hardware defect of the LEDs themselves and there aren't any troubleshooting steps that we could guide you through that would address this.

The only course of action we can recommend is to again return the product to the retailer for another replacement. ".

I did a bit more research and saw the couple of reviews on new egg that you mentioned, I think I saw another post on a ROG user's forum as well mentioning the issue so at least we're not the only ones with this problem.

I'll be contacting the retailer on Monday to arrange another replacement. I guess it may be a common issue with this board and because its fairly new and some people won't have tried the colour white, the problems gone unnoticed.

Hopefully the next one I get will work properly.

Let me know how you get on.
