Asus Maximus VIII Gene does not recognize gpu

Hey just finished my build and trying to get things up and running. I have everything installed but i get no display from my gpu. I switched my hdmi cable from the gpu to the onboard graphics and everything is working fine. In bios i look at the pcie slots and its says no VGA card found. The card is plugged in and powering up, just no display. Anyone run across something like this? I have updated the bios to 1202. Swapped the card to the other slot and still the samething.

AMD R9 Fury X
16gb G.Skill Tridentz
Samsung 850 Evo 500gb
Corsair AX860 psu

Hi, Make sure that all required PCIe power cables are connected to the graphics card.

I have two 8pin connectors in the card and two to the psu(fully modular).

With the card installed and powered (GPU fans spinning when starting the board), monitor connected to the motherboard (not graphics card), are you getting signal on the monitor?

yes i get a signal and everything works normally

Then graphics card does not work. Try testing it in different PCIe slot. Again, make sure that the power cables are properly connected to the power supply and graphics card.

Tried different slot and moving power cables into different spots on the psu. Also had a friend bring over another gpu. tried that and had the same issue.

I wasnt able to get his psu but i was able to get my multimeter from work and went through and tested mine. My psu is good but found out that my pcie cables were not in the right pins after they were sleeved. i went through and found the correct pinout and fixed them. the card is working great now. thanks for your help.
