I just bought my new pc and i tried to build it but i run into a problem which it seems i can't solve it alone.

I got the asus maximus viii hero motherboard and asus strix gtx970oc and it cant be detected on the first 2 pcie slots of the motherboard. It only works if i put the gpu on the third pcie slot. I updated the BIOS to the newest, still nothing.

Does anyone have any clue?

CPU is being detected correctly on bios and the pc runs good. Is there a possibility that due to a bent pin in the cpu that the gpu wont run in the pcie x16 slot nor x8?

I had the same exact problem today, I bought the board used with a 212 EVO installed. Turns out the guy forgot to put washers between the metal plate on the back of mobo and the mobo itself.
I took it apart, inserted two washer, booted and the gpu was detected on the first slot.

Maybe tag as [solved] ?
