Asus Maximus VIII Hero won't post after clearing CMOS

This all started after I noticed 100% cpu usage in task manager. The cpu usage was caused by random programs like nvidia backened and skype. I ran Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, adwcleaner, and bitdefender and only adwcleaner cleaner came back with some tool bars that I didn't install in settings. I cleared everything and nothing changed, still 100 cpu usage. I ran antivirus in rescue mode with the same results.

I reset the system to "factory defaults" but left my backup hdd alone and after reinstalling widows 10 there was nornal cpu usage! I was so excited so I reinstalled everything and replugged in my backup. I reran ai suite 3 and it was giving strange numbers for the overclock %. It crashed with a BSOD with no code and restarted. Everything seemed fine and it gave an oc of 15% and went on with the fan test like nothing happened. Everything seemed fine so I went into bios and checked the clock speed and everything seemed fine. I changed the voltage to adaptive and 1 hour later I get BSOD after BSOD. I reset the bios settings to default and still BSOD. BSOD codes 21a, internal error, and crypto library critical process error.

After talking to tech support I pressed the clear CMOS button and I got error 55 which has to do with RAM. My RAM checked out just fine and I've gotten a replacement motherboard and I'm still getting the same code. What can I do?

wait wait wait. back up a step. i thought this was a question about a motherboard that failed to POST after a CLR_CMOS, now you're saying you got a 2nd motherboard and are getting the same problem?

some questions for you-

1) How did you "test" your ram?
2) do i have this chain of events correct? 100% cpu utilization -> antivirus sweeps = nothing -> reformated C: drive and reinstalled windows -> problem gone -> start overclocking with AI Suite 3 -> blue screen -> CLR_CMOS -> now won't post -> tested ram in some way -> since ram was good bought new motherboard -> new motherboard also won't POST

Cause it sounds like you suffered a hardware failure somewhere other then the motherboard. since the board was saying it was the ram, how did you determine the ram was ok? did you try the MEMOK button? did you test your ram with memtest86? how did you test the ram?

I received a replacement mother board from Asus. I reinstalled the components on to the replacement and received the same error code, 55. I also checked the standoffs and there didn't seem to be an issue there(black stuff touching the board, cross tightened etc.). The RAM was tested by placing working ram into the motherboard and receiving the same issue.

The chain for events looks good except there was a period of time after the original BSOD where the system worked just fine. An hour later the system crashed while reinstalling Battlefront. I didn't even get to play it

well... posting loads stuff in a specific order.

1) pull out the gpu, see if the problem goes away
2) if possible try a different power supply
3) hold down the memok button, until the system reboots.

if this stuff doesn't work (and you get no responce trying the new ram), then i'd say it's a toast CPU

I pulled out the gpu and recieved the same error code 55. I ran with one stick of ram and replaced the gpu in a different socket and recieved error 99 on the first try and 55 after resetting. I don't have access to another psu.

Are the error codes indicative of the processor? It would sometimes boot to the login page but would always crash upon login. 4/5 times it just did it while booting windows.

Upon taking my graphics card out earlier I did notice that the gpu's competion was ever so slightly bent. I have received any problems with my gpu before though.
