Hi guys
I am looking at purchasing a gaming headset (Arctis Pro Wired). If my motherboard supports Hi-res audio then I do not need the DAC which will save me some $$.

My question is.. Does my Asus Maximus XI Hero motherboard support Hi-Res? Spec Below

  • Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
  • High quality 120 dB SNR stereo playback output and 113 dB SNR recording input
  • SupremeFX Shielding Technology
  • ESS® ES9023P
  • Supports up to 32-Bit/192kHz playback *3
Audio Feature :
  • Gold-plated jacks
  • Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel
  • Sonic Radar III
  • Sonic Studio III + Sonic Studio Link

The headset you're looking at USB driven. Even if you did want to connect the haedset to analog ports on the board, you should be looking at an audio splitter or at the very least your case should have a single audio out/in port(which can accept a 4pole 3.5mm jack, that comes bundled with the headset).

In short, you're good to go with the USB ports. If you want to avail the analog ports on your chassis/board you should look at a headset that isn't USB driven.
