Hi guys,

So yesterday I was casually surfing the net and as I went to rest my elbows on my desk as you do and my pc instantly shut off as if someone had pulled the power cable out. Similar issues like this have happened in the past where my pc will just crash as my rig is getting quite outdated, had it for about 5 years now. Nothing has been touched or moved since assembling 5 years ago.

I noticed that the MemOK red LED is lit up on my Asus P8Z77-M PRO, so is there a compatibility issue with either the RAM sticks or the mobo? Have tried pushing the MemOK button and it just reboots 4 or 5 times with flashing led before going back to stable led.
I then cleaned the sticks by rubbing alcohol and adjusted the seating of the cpu, mobo, ram and the led has now turned off, BUT The mouse and keyboard in the usb ports aren't working and the monitor still has no signal. Also note the standby green power light on the mobo is on. What's the problem now?

If you guys have any other ideas or can link me a solution it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Solution
Because the MemOK red LED is lit up, you should test the RAM one by one with MemTest86 http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm to see the RAM are OK or not. You can run the program by few passes. If there is no error, the RAM are fine. If you get the error, the RAM will cause that problem, either use the RAM warranty for replacement or buy the new RAM.

Did you clean it once in a while?

I also would test with another psu if possible. Maybe from a friend or a local shop ...
