I am unable to display 144hz at 1080p with my Asus VG248QE monitor connected to an AMD RX 580 graphics card. It is connected via a fiber optic HDMI cable I just purchased, specifically this one https://www.walmart.com/ip/Monster-UHD-Platinum-Fiber-Optic-HDMI-Cable-15ft/247894860
I'm aware not all HDMI cable support 144 hz but I assume this one would be fancy enough to do so. I've gone into the Windows 10 display properties but the highest refresh rate listed is 60 hz. I then went into Radeon software to set a custom resolution at 1080p 144 hz but when I select it through windows the monitor goes black and then acts like it is receiving no connection. Please help

Solution
For anyone with the same issue, the monitor I have, ASUS VG248QE does not support HDMI for any refresh rates past 60 hz, Most but not all newer 144 hz monitors have support for HDMI past 60 hz, however.

"Some older 144 Hz displays are limited to 60 Hz at 1080p over HDMI (such as the Acer GN246HL, and BenQ XL2411, and ASUS VG248QE), but this limitation of those particular displays, not a limitation of the HDMI standard. Limitations of products have resulted in a lot of people saying things like "the HDMI 1.4 standard is limited to 60 Hz" or "limited to 120 Hz", "you need HDMI 2.0 for 144 Hz" etc, but these statements are incorrect.
