Hi all

I have an ASUS TUF X299 MARK1 that's more than a couple of years old, using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Every once in a while, the BIOS does an auto-update, I would like it to not do this.

I cant find anything about an auto-update feature in the BIOS itself - including the advanced area - nor in the manual.

I called ASUS and the tech rep tried to get me to do stuff in the O/S; I am not understanding how the O/S could be involved here. Windows updates are turned off (services applet) and there are no ASUS apps running. In fact, there are none installed.

Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.

Asus AI suite could have a component for automatic BIOS updates.
But you said, you have no Asus software installed.

May be you had it before, removed it, but some parts still remained?
Check windows services for some Asus related service.

This is W7

Nothing is installed. There is nothing showing in the msconfig, nor the ctrl panel.

This shows in the services applet, however, as you can see they are disabled.

How could this be controlled by the OS? Computer power is off, you turn it on, and the bios starts to update before the Windows screen appears. That cant be the OS, could it?
